Beautiful postcard Mayday celebrations in 1912 somewhere in Gloucestershire - looks a bit like the aerodrome field adjacent to Station Road in Yate but probably not. Requires verification.

While Yate lies in the county of Gloucestershire its very close to both Wiltshire and Somerset and of course the county and city of Bristol which is just 11 miles by road. The postcards in this section are from those areas within these counties, yet outside of the vicinity of Yate and Sodbury, that are not considered as being part of the Cotswolds.

For instance Gloucester, which is the capital of Gloucestershire, is not part of the Cotswolds, nor is Sharpness which is 17 miles by road from Yate, while the Gloucestershire towns of Cheltenham, Cirencester and Stroud are largely within the Cotswolds. In Wiltshire the famous picturesque village of Castle Combe, which is just 11 miles from Yate, is firmly in the Cotswolds but the Wiltshire town of Bradford-on-Avon is not. The famous Roman and Georgian city of Bath in Somerset, just 14 miles by road from Yate, is just about in the Cotswolds, sitting right on the escarpment, but coastal towns in Somerset such as Portishead, Clevedon and Weston-Super-Mare are not.

Bob would travel extensively throughout these counties daily for work and on weekends for sport and day trips  etc.
